The News as Heard on Creepercast 76: Creepy Kids from Hell (May 23rd. 2012)

10 Deadliest Shows on TV Revealed

“In a study conducted by Funeralwise.com, which analyzed the deaths in 8 episodes of 40 TV shows, it was revealed that Spartacus: Vengeance and Game of Thrones came out on top, with an average of 25 and 13 dead bodies per episode, respectively…

Coming out on top as the true monster killers on television is The Vampire Diaries, which only slightly bested The Walking Dead, with an average of 18 and 16 non-human deaths per episode, respectively. What about Supernatural? Unfortunately, Sam and Dean only averaged 1 non-human deaths an episode (3 human). Perhaps not the best score for television’s best monster hunters…

Besides highlighting television’s decision to kill (almost) everyone, the purpose of the study was to discovery whether there was a correlation between the average number of deaths per episode and its popularity (there wasn’t any). Additionally, they were interested to see how many of those deaths included a funeral or memorial service. Out of the 1,000+ dead bodies counted, only 8 received such a service.”

I must say, I love it when organizations put long hours of study into things that really matter to me! Also, The Walking Dead undoubtedly had the most funerals, in 1 episode!

‘Supernatural’ Season 8 – Will You Be Tuning In?

May 18, 2012

“Like many series its age, Supernatural has had its fair share of problems during its seventh year on the air. But after seeing the Supernatural season 7 finale, has the series once again righted itself? And, more importantly, will you be tuning in when Supernatural makes its move to Wednesday for season 8?

From the continuous episodic stories that rarely progressed the plot, to the introduction of one of the most powerful, though completely non-frightening, monsters in supposed series history, many fans were worried that perhaps their favorite series had lost its way. While the season 7 finale did little prove that the series will be returning to a familiar, enjoyable path, perhaps there’s still hope for Supernatural season 8… Splitting up Sam and Dean for the beginning of next season, there’s at least a tangible obstacle for one of the Winchesters to overcome. With Dean being stuck in Purgatory with (maybe) Castiel, it’ll be interesting to see the series depict a setting that has only been described up until this point, even within its limited budget.

Rest assured, if you don’t tune in Jason will. So maybe with a little coaxing (very little if you know how much Jason likes to talk about this show) we might get him to tell us all about it so that those of us too lazy to watch won’t feel we’re missing anything!

New True Blood Showrunner Announced

“Alan Ball will be stepping down as showrunner of “True Blood” at the end of Season 5, and now we know who will replace him should HBO renew the series for a Season 6…

According to Deadline, co-executive producer Mark Hudis will be upped to executive producer/showrunner for Season 6 as part of an overall deal he has signed with HBO. The two-year pact also includes a development component…

While leaving “True Blood” full-time after Season 5, Ball is staying in business with HBO through his overall deal there. He will continue to be involved in “True Blood” and also executive produce the new series Banshee.”

Honestly, I haven’t been keeping up with the show. I know that makes me a horrible person but there’s so many shows to watch! But I am interested in this Banshee show because I love Celtic myths. I probably won’t have time to watch it either though. Woe is me!

Opening this weekend!

Besides Men In Black III – which I know I’m not dying to see

But one the one I am interested in is…

Chernobyl Diaries

“Six tourists hire an extreme tour guide who takes them to the abandoned city Pripyat, the former home to the workers of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor. During their exploration, they soon discover they are not alone.”

It took a long time but we’re finally getting an aftermath of the Chernobly nuclear reactor meltdown film! Of course it looks like a found footage film and seems to be a lot like The Hills Have Eyes. I think I will see it anyway.

Coming Soon to a theater near us!

Snow White and the Huntsman (June 1)

“In a twist to the fairy tale, the Huntsman ordered to take Snow White into the woods to be killed winds up becoming her protector and mentor in a quest to vanquish the Evil Queen.”

The story looks a lot like ABC’s Once Upon a Time without leaving the fantasy world. At this point the only thing that interests me is Charlize Theron as the evil queen. Why does Kristen Stewert look like Joan of Arc and what’s up with Thor? It’s also a situation of  ‘how can Snow White be the fairest in the land when the evil queen is way hotter?” Kristen Stewert fairer than Charlize Theron? In what if any universe? All I know is I don’t want to live there!

Piranha 3DD (US release?)

Currently playing in Ireland

“After the events at Lake Victoria, the pre-historic school of blood-thirsty piranhas make their way into a newly opened waterpark.”

The first film had Jerry O’Connel playing a jack ass and was an amazingly delightful horror schtick movie! I can’t wait to see what they have David Hasselhoff playing! An amusement park lifegaurd! Oh I sure hope so!

Prometheus (June 8th)

“A team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.”

So we still don’t know for sure if this is a prequel or not to Alien. But after seeing enough trailers I don’t particularly care!

This week on DVD!

The Woman in Black

“A young lawyer travels to a remote village where he discovers the vengeful ghost of a scorned woman is terrorizing the locals.”

As previously stated on the show many times this is actually a pretty decent ghost flick that has a reasonable stray from the novel. Look for Hammer Films to bring us the sequel Angel of Death in the next few years!

Teen Wolf Season 1

“A somewhat awkward teen is attacked by a werewolf and inherits the curse itself, as well as the enemies that come with it.”

As I’ve already gone on record saying, this show did not benefit from its ties to the original Michael J. Fox film from the 80′s. There are certain things one would expect when you use the same concept, character names and traits, etc. But the silly 80′s nostalgia doesn’t exist and it’s more related to Twilight in its exploration of teenage angst combined with a beloved classic monster. Even so, it isn’t a 100% horrible show.

The River Season 1

“The crew of a research vessel are on a quest to find a missing TV explorer in the Amazon.”

I made it through six episodes so far, and though I loved the Amazonian mythology each episode deals with, I can’t seem to like it. Which is to bad, lots of good actors in it. Will there be a season 2? I guess it depends on how many more creative ways they can think to run a POV camera. They are about out now right?
