Week of October 10th, 2012
By J.P. (Jeff) Hunt
This week in theaters… October 12th, 2012
“Found footage helps a true-crime novelist realize how and why a family was murdered in his new home, though his discoveries put his entire family in the path of a supernatural entity.” (IMDB)
Ethan Hawke is back and the vengeful spirit motif is still running strong with Sinister. The best part of the trailer is the ghost guy looks like a member of Slipknot. Other than that we have a movie within a movie since its found footage that leads our author to the tale of the murders and found footage that is used to tell us some of his story. The trailer leaves you wanting more and the viral campaigning of this film makes it must see! But until this weekend when you can, see if you can figure out which Slipknot character is the killer…
The Devil’s Carnival limited edition!
“Two different versions of The Devil’s Carnival will be hitting Blu-ray and DVD on October 23rd with one edition limited to only 6,660 copies!” (Dread Central)
From Darren Bousman and Terrence Zdunich (“Repo! The Genetic Opera”) comes the DVD and Blu-ray release of a new horror musical! “Lost souls enter The Devil’s Carnival where they are each faced with the sins they committed in life.” (IMDB)
If you loved “Repo!” as much as we did (and we have no doubt you did) than you want to know how to be one of the 6,660 that get the special edition. Let’s have Darren and Terrence tell you how to do that…
Better order now! Also look for a “Repo!” and maybe a “Devil’s Carnival” track on this years “Creepercast Presents: Halloween Music for Your Ghoulish Night – Musical Edition” on October 31st!
Rob Zombie’s “Lords of Salem,” finally!
“Residents of Salem, Massachusetts are visited by a 300-year-old coven of witches.” (IMDB)
Now the trailer looks a lot like an 80’s rock video but but considering how long we waited for this movie who can begrudge Rob Zombie for getting his rock on!
In the horrid-able news…
Jason is arrested for trying to help the cops!
That is to say, “Batman” was arrested in Petoskey, Michigan while trying to “help” police at an accident scene late Saturday, August 29th. Troopers were responding to the scene of a personal injury accident in which the driver had left the scene. According to the Petoskey news, Jason arrived shortly after in his old Batman costume wanting to help but only got in the way when the canines being used to track the driver couldn’t pick up his scent. Thus he was charged with one count of resisting and obstructing police in an investigation. This, of course, isn’t the first time Jason has been has been arrested for being Batman in Petoskey, about a year ago police arrested him after they received a report of a man dressed as Batman on the roof of a downtown Petoskey business. Although no one can blame Jason for wanting to keep his Batman skills honed in case the Joker ever reappears, but, we can ask he stop wearing the same old costume he got when he was twelve. Yea, not very flattering.
That’s the news this week, Farewell from the beasts and I
’til next we bleed
