Basic Plot: Beneath the bloody waters of Crystal Lake, an immortal evil wakes and begins a new cycle of violence. Six months after the events of “Freddy vs Jason vs Ash,” a power-hungry government bureaucrat unleashes the denizens of the Necronomicon – including the banished spirit of the Springwood Slasher – Freddy Krueger. The covert government group called Project Black Book is unleashing creatures of mass destruction in its bid to gain control over the Necronomicon. And as the survivors of Freddy and Jason’s murder sprees congregate, the short-lived reunion is shattered by the violent arrival of Jason Voorhees. But when a mysterious stranger arrives to aid in the battle, Jason must confront the one man who has not only survived his murderous rampages but has also “killed him” in the past.
My likes/dislikes: The name “Nightmare Warriors” is a nod to the third “Nightmare on Elm Street” film “The Dream Warriors.” I like that the sunglasses Ash is wearing are the ones he wore as Elvis in “Bubba Ho-Tep.” Also, as Ash is driving its shown that the song on the radio is Alice Cooper’s “He’s Back (The Man Behind the Mask)” from the 1986 album “Constrictor,” and the theme song of “Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives.” I really enjoy the nods to the other movies.
Bads: I know it’s a visual medium without sound but they actually put the words/sound effects for Jason on the page.
Between issue 2 and 3 Freddy is whole and human and then he is back to being boogeyman Freddy with no explanation.
As with “Buffy Season 8” the artists change, which I get when you run 40 issue, but this was a limited 6 issue run? You cant keep the same artists?
The Ending/epilogue was way vague… even after looking up the ending on wiki I’m not sure it made sense.
